Journey to Parenthood
|
My husband Darol and I married in 1995. Spencer joined us in 1998 and our triplets
arrived in 2001. Typing that into two nice little sentences makes it all sound so easy.
But like most families of HOMs our story is anything but easy.
What most parents of HOMs know is that 85% of triplets are the result of infertility
treatments, and I am no exception to this. I've been through the emotional
rollercoaster of desperately wanting a family and having my hopes crushed by one
miscarriage after another. My triplet pregnancy was my eight pregnancy but only my
second successful one. To say the pregnancy itself was difficult would be an
understatement. Once complication after another left me in constant fear that I
wouldn't make it to the end. Thankfully, I did make it all the way to 35 weeks
gestation and the triplets were born healthy. After two weeks in the NICU they came
home to officially join our family and things have never been the same since!
Darol is currently working for a major bank and pursuing his MBA. I am in nursing
school and takes care of the kids full-time. Spencer is a second grader and is
showing an aptitude for math. Seville, Olivia and Noah have started preschool and
love playing with each other and keeping mom busy.
